Mr. Kenneth Chong is a veteran science teacher with over 17 years of experience, right here in Clayton County Public Schools.  He has been a proud Charles R. Drew High School Titan since 2011.  Currently, Mr. Chong is the Science Department Chair and teaches Physics, AP Physics 1 and will be introducing Oceanography in the spring.

 

Mr. Chong is a huge supporter of the Titan student body, evident by his founding, sponsorship and involvement in numerous clubs and organizations.  Those groups include; Anime Club, Drewbotics - robotics team, International Club, Restoring Kings -male mentor program, and Y.E.E.A. (Youth Empowerment and Environmental Awareness) Science Club. This year will showcase new collaborations with the Captain Planet Foundation Planeteer Alliance, the Environmental Protection Agency, and Science ATL Chief Science Officer Program, and 21st Century Leaders.

On a personal note, Mr. Chong has been married for over 26 years and has two sons.  He is a member of the Elizabeth Baptist Church, where he volunteers for community service, community outreach and community engagement.  Mr. Chong is a techie that enjoys music, movies and traveling.  His favorites are R&B, action movies and best travels include Los Angeles, Mexico, Bahamas, Panama and Dubai.

Giovanna Ebony-Simone’ Allison is an L4GA Literacy Coach at Charles Drew High School, where she prioritizes spreading literacy across the building through the Titan Tune-Up Time program. With over twenty years of experience in education, Giovanna is dedicated to enhancing literacy, supporting mental health and wellness, and preparing students to be college and career ready.

Her innovative approach to teaching integrates technology,
personalized learning, and social-emotional learning practices, making her a valuable asset in fostering educational excellence. Giovanna is always willing to help teachers, staff, and students to meet their goals, demonstrating her unwavering commitment to education.

She is instrumental in thinking about the skills the students of Drew need to enhance their community and family lives, ensuring they can compete and be college and career ready in an ever-changing world outside of high school. Her dedication to education is reflected in the numerous awards she has received, including the Verizon Innovative Learning Award and the Kaiser Permanente Thriving Schools Honor Roll.


Giovanna’s passion for education and her ability to inspire both students and educators continue to drive positive change within the school community.

                                                 Mrs. Candence Jones

Coach Jones is a 25 year veteran teacher. She is a 12th grade ELA teacher and Yearbook Advisor. Coach Jones is also the Head Girls Basketball Coach, SGA Advisor, CDHS Brand Ambassador, CDHS Webmaster and Boys Tennis Coach. Coach Jones is also one of the Senior Class Sponsors and was a finalist for the CCPS Teacher of the Year. Coach loves teaching and spearheading different activities for the school. Her positive energy is infectious. She describes her classroom as "a place where stars are shaped and dreams are made."  Coach Jones is a native of Miami, Florida. She has 3 daughters (Leah, Rickia and Jordyn). She is happily married to Chuck Jones. She resides in Clayton County. Her hobbies are working out, watching professional and college sports, traveling, reading and journaling.
